Brushing with an Electric Toothbrush

 Brushing with an Electric Toothbrush

An electric toothbrush is a good solution for brushing your teeth. With proper technique you can remove food and bacteria reducing your risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Start by applying a small amount of toothpaste. Place the toothbrush at a 45 degree angle to your teeth making sure the brush comes in contact with the gumline. Turn your brush on when it’s inside your mouth to avoid spraying the toothpaste. Move the brush slowly along the outsides of your teeth focusing on a one tooth at a time. Tilt the head of the toothbrush slightly to make sure you’re reaching all sides of the teeth but there’s no need to brush side to side since the electric toothbrush is doing the brushing work for you. Repeat this action along the insides of your teeth. For the insides of the front teeth, hold the brush vertically to reach the backs of the teeth more easily. Next hold your brush flush with the chewing surfaces of your teeth tilting slightly from side to side. Remember to tip your brush to reach the backs of your molars. When you’re finished brushing your teeth remember to brush your tongue by holding the brush horizontally and working your way downward to remove bacteria. Thoroughly cleaning your mouth takes about two to three minutes each time. Key things to keep in mind while brushing are to take your time letting the electric toothbrush do the work, make sure the brush is in contact with the gumline, focus on covering every surface of each tooth, and don’t forget to brush your tongue.
