Have you ever wondered what happens in the room between dental appointments?
After every patient, we thoroughly clean and disinfect the entire room before the next patient is treated. The first step is to wash our hands and put on protective gear which may include a gown, mask, goggles and utility gloves. Next, we dispose of any single-use items and bring all reusable tools and instruments to the sterilization room. Surface barriers that look like plastic wrap cover some items such as the headrest, light handles, computer keyboards, and more. We remove and discard these items being careful not to touch the surface underneath. All surfaces are then thoroughly cleaned then disinfected. We wipe counters and cabinets, doors handles, the chair, even the foot pedals. Everything gets disinfected! After disinfection is complete, we apply a new set of surface barriers and the room is ready for the next patient.
